Who we are

About us

The T12 Beit Midrash Foundation was established to teach Jewish learning and culture to anyone who wants to get closer to it.

Our classes are streamed live on Zoom and Facebook Live, and are later available on the major podcast platforms and social media. Since 2021 we have built an archive of more than two hundred talks: weekly Torah portion commentaries, holiday teachings and lectures on Jewish studies. Please note that all our teachings are in Hungarian.

We also support in-person learning, including a Hebrew reading course.

Our books bring important works on Judaism to Hungarian readers for the first time – among them the first Hungarian edition of Lord Jonathan Sacks’s five-volume Torah commentary, Covenant & Conversation.

The Beit Midrash is led by Chief Rabbi István Darvas, President of the Budapest University of Jewish Studies (OR-ZSE) and Chief Rabbi of the Hegedűs Gyula Street Synagogue. Our members pray in many synagogues. On this site we publish the prayer times of the Hegedűs Gyula Street Synagogue.
